Golden oldies deserve extra care

Senior dogs hold a special place in my heart. A lifetime of unwavering friendship is something to be celebrated! Older dogs often have aches and pains and limited flexibility, so special accommodations are made for them at the Lab. From a soft support for their rear ends, to grooming right on the floor if it’s more comfortable for them, I want to make their salon experience as easy as possible.

If your old pal is on meds for pain, ask your vet if an extra dose is suggested before handling. Please let me know of any growths, lumps, or skin conditions so I can choose the appropriate tools and shampoo.

It may be best to split your dog’s grooming into 2 sessions; it can be hard for an older dog to stand for the length of a groom, or it may be simply too much activity for one day. As always, your dog’s safety and comfort are goal #1. I may suggest a shorter clip for dogs that are having trouble with hygiene, are matted from laying down a lot, or who dislike brushing.
